About the images

HERE Bellaire uses a real, credited photograph of the named place when we have the rights to one, and a live Google place photo when that is the best current view available. When neither exists, we may use a generated Illustration. A listing illustration can be lifelike and locally specific, but it is still editorial art — not a claim that someone photographed that exact storefront, room or afternoon. It is labeled Illustration wherever it appears. Some clips on the site are AI-animated from photographs rather than filmed, and any photograph a clip derives from is credited.

The four picture classes here

  • Photograph (0) — a real camera image of a real place, sourced from Wikimedia Commons, Flickr, a first party or another permitted source. It carries its author, licence and source and is listed on the attribution page.
  • Google photo (2313) — a live Google Maps place photo, fetched rather than stored by HERE Bellaire and credited to the contributor Google names. A real/owned photo takes priority when we have one.
  • Lifelike or obvious illustration (3846) — generated or commissioned editorial art used only when a suitable real/Google place photo is unavailable. One named place gets one slug-locked illustration family; it is never shared as category wallpaper. It must be type-true, locally plausible, dignified to an operating business, free of invented readable signage/logos and watermarks, and visibly labeled Illustration. It is not documentary evidence of the exact facade or interior.
  • Editorial/section art (31) — generated imagery for guides, essays, living pages and neighbourhood/section heroes. It can be more cinematic, but remains disclosed as generated editorial art.

Generated imagery is recorded in the image manifest with provider/source provenance. Production gates reject missing provenance, legacy flat/geometric listing placeholders, watermark hits, shared listing assignments and unsafe event-image reuse.

Google Photos (2313)

Some listings that have no photograph of their own — 2313 at last count — show a photo from Google Maps instead, fetched live each time the page loads rather than stored on our server. Each one carries the name of the person who took it, exactly as Google records it, in the caption underneath. A listing with a photograph we found and credited ourselves, or one submitted by the business, always uses that instead.
