Where a place lists hours, we say so, because hours change and the place itself always has the last word.

Spas and massage

Mayan Rituals Spa, 4922 Locust St, is a day spa that builds its menu around massage. Its site lists a volcanic stone massage, a traditional Mayan massage, a prenatal massage, organic facials, body rituals and a couples service, and it says every massage begins with a consultation with your licensed massage therapist. The spa lists weekday hours from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekend hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Heyday Bellaire, 5103 Bellaire Blvd, Suite 150, is a facial studio. Its site lists three core facials, the Essential, the Microneedling and the Full Edit, plus add-ons such as LED light therapy, dermaplaning and a professional peel. It posts Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is closed Monday.

Spa Zoey Skin Care, 4545 Bissonnet St, Suite 113, is listed as a spa, and its name says skin care. The spa lists Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is closed Sunday and Monday.

Songkran Thai Massage, 5000 Bissonnet St, is the easiest of the group to drop in on. Its site lists Thai massage, aromatherapy, couples massage and a foot and body treatment in sessions of 30 to 120 minutes, says walk-ins are welcome and recommends a reservation. It lists daily hours from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Nails

Citris Nail Spa, 5101 Bellaire Blvd, belongs to a Houston-area group with several locations. Its site lists acrylic sets, dip powder, manicures and pedicures, including a hot stones pedicure, and waxing. It posts weekday hours from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

On Bissonnet Street the hair salons and the original barber shop keep the same rhythm: closed Sunday and Monday, open Tuesday through Saturday.

CK Nails Spa, 5213 Bellaire Blvd, is on the same boulevard. Its site lists manicures and pedicures, including a hot stone pedicure, solar nails, waxing, eyelash extensions, facials and paraffin treatments. It lists Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and is closed Sunday and Monday.

Hair and salon suites

Phenix Salon Suites, 5103 Bellaire Blvd, Suite 220, is a building of private suites rather than a single salon. Its site describes a boutique salon suite concept for hair, nails and skin care, and says the professionals who work there include hairdressers, makeup artists, facialists, lash specialists, barbers, wax technicians and nail artists. That means the person you book is a specific professional, not the building, so ask who you will see. Phenix lists daily hours from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Elizabeth Hair Salon, 5004 Bissonnet St, is listed as a hair salon. It lists Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Salon Stephan, 5200 Bissonnet St, is listed as a beauty salon. It posts Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., which makes Thursday the evening to try.

Le Kim Salon, 5314 Bissonnet St, is listed as a beauty salon. It lists Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Barbers

William's Haircuts, 5215 Bellaire Blvd, is one of two barbers in this guide. It lists Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and it is closed Sunday.

Bellaire's Original Barber Shop, 5400 Bissonnet St, is the other, and the name is its own. It lists Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Bissonnet Street the hair salons and the original barber shop keep the same rhythm: closed Sunday and Monday, open Tuesday through Saturday.

Put the two barbers side by side and the difference is the week. William's Haircuts lists a Monday opening, which is the one day the Bissonnet Street shops are dark, and Bellaire's Original Barber Shop lists weekday mornings from 8 a.m., two hours earlier, and closes at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
