Wine Shops, Liquor Stores and Wine Bars in Bellaire

Bellaire is a city of homes, and homes need something to pour on a Friday. The city does not have a wine district, or a long strip of tasting rooms. What it has is a handful of independent places, most of them on or near Bissonnet Street, each doing a slightly different job.

This guide sorts them by the job. Descriptions come from each place's own site where one loads, and otherwise from the category and hours in our places file. A place that lists hours is quoted as listing them, because bottle shops change their weeks more often than their labels.

Drink it there

Paul's Wine Pix, 5424 Bissonnet St, calls itself a family-owned and operated wine bar and bottle shop, and its site lists a food menu alongside the wine. It is marked 21 and over. The site lists Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Sunday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. It is closed Monday. Because it both pours and sells, it is the place to taste something before you buy a case of it.

Buy it to take home

Rice Fine Wines and Liquor, 5108 Spruce St, is the neighborhood liquor store in this guide. Our file does not say more than that, so we will not guess at its shelves. It lists Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Rice Fine Wines and Liquor lists Sunday as closed, so a bottle for Sunday supper is a Saturday errand.

Monsterville's Wines, 4507 Bissonnet St, sells wine and more besides. Its site lists memberships, events, wine products and guided wine-country tours, including a trip to Argentina and Chile scheduled for March and April of 2027. Our file classes it as a private association, and the site does not say whether the Bissonnet Street space is a shop or a tasting room, so call before you make a special trip. It lists Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is closed Sunday and Monday.

A wine night for the parks

An evening called Pours for Parks was listed for Thursday, February 27, 2025, with Monsterville's Wines as the venue. The event page describes tastings of ten wines and light bites from The '401, 6700 Ferris St, and says each ticket also donated a bottle of wine to the Wine and Tapas Cork Pull. It is a good picture of how the place works, as a room the neighborhood borrows for a cause.

The evening was organized by Patrons For Bellaire Parks, 7008 5th St, the community group behind the parks effort. The '401 is a restaurant, and it lists daily hours, opening at 11 a.m. on weekdays and at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. If you want the pairing without the ticket, it makes a good dinner stop before or after a visit to the shop.

After dark

Rossa Room Speakeasy, 4564 Bissonnet St, is a speakeasy, and its site offers an Enter page and a link to reserve a table through OpenTable. The site shows no menu we can quote, so we will say only that it is a cocktail room rather than a shop. It lists Tuesday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., and it is closed Sunday and Monday.

A week at a glance

Laid side by side, the listed hours show a pattern. On Monday only Rice Fine Wines and Liquor and The '401 list open doors among the Bellaire places here, since Paul's Wine Pix, Monsterville's Wines and the Rossa Room Speakeasy are all closed. On Sunday the picture flips: Paul's Wine Pix lists an afternoon and evening, The '401 lists a morning start, and the two bottle sellers are dark. Friday and Saturday are the long nights, with the wine bar and the speakeasy both listing closing times after 10 p.m.

The practical rule follows from that. If you are hosting, buy on Saturday or Tuesday through Friday. If you want to drink, pick the night first and the place second.

Just past the city line

Seasons 52, 4410 Westheimer Rd, is a restaurant in Houston that its site calls a wine bar and grill, and it advertises wines by the glass. Our file lists no hours for it, so check its site before you go.

Drop of the Creator Spirits Co., 10929 Chimney Rock Rd, is a distillery. The Brays Oaks Management District reported its opening in May 2025 and said it bottles a straight bourbon, a Texas whiskey, at least two gins, a vodka and an agave spirit distilled in Mexico. The district said the tasting room serves craft cocktails, beers brewed on site, nonalcoholic drinks, charcuterie and pizza. The distillery lists Tuesday through Thursday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. It is closed Monday.

Before you go

- Bring identification to Paul's Wine Pix, because its site says the wine bar is for guests 21 and over. - Buy your Sunday bottle by Saturday evening, since Rice Fine Wines and Liquor and Monsterville's Wines both list Sunday as closed. - Call Monsterville's Wines before you go, because its site does not say whether it offers tastings in the shop. - Reserve a table for the Rossa Room Speakeasy ahead of time, since its site links to an online reservation system. - Plan a ride home from the distillery and the wine bars, and confirm current hours first.
