Kid-Friendly Restaurants in Bellaire
About 27 percent of Bellaire's residents are under 18, so the question of where to eat with children comes up often. The places below were chosen for what their own websites or category listings say, not for how they feel on a Saturday at noon, so treat them as a starting list and use your own judgment about crowds and noise.

Pizza, burgers and subs
MOD Pizza, at 5103 Bellaire Blvd., lets customers order online for pickup or delivery, and its website lists more than 30 toppings. At MOD Pizza each child can pick their own toppings, because the pizza is built to order with unlimited toppings at one price. The restaurant lists hours from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on most days and until 11 p.m. from Thursday to Saturday.
Luigi's Pizzeria, at 4505 Bissonnet St., is a pizza restaurant on Bissonnet Street, and pizza is often all a family needs to know. It lists hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on most days, with a 10 p.m. close on Friday and Saturday and a noon opening on Sunday.
Lankford's - Bellaire, at 5208 Bissonnet St., is a family-owned burger restaurant that its website says was established in 1937 and is now in its third generation of family ownership. The menu runs to fresh-made burgers and milkshakes, and the restaurant lists hours from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, until 9 p.m. from Wednesday to Friday, and from 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. A self-pour wall of 20 Texas craft beers, priced by the ounce, is for the adults at the table, and the site also mentions catering and private party spaces, which is handy for a birthday.
Jersey Mike's, at 5107 Bellaire Boulevard, is a submarine sandwich shop where the meat and cheese are sliced in front of you and the bread is baked in the store, according to its website. It posts hours from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day of the week, which makes it an easy lunch or early dinner. The website also mentions catering, with subs by the box and by the bag for larger groups.
A menu for the kids
The '401, at 6700 Ferris St., lists lunch, brunch and dinner on its website, and it offers kids menus, daily specials and a happy hour for the grown-ups. The restaurant posts hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays, with a 10 a.m. start on Saturday and Sunday.
Auntie Pasto's, at 5419 Bellaire Blvd., is an Italian restaurant, and its website also lists a kids menu and catering. The adults can look at the cilantro fettuccini with jalapeños and crawfish, and the black pepper fettuccini with shrimp, while the children choose from their own menu. It lists hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.
Room to run
Evelyn's Park, at 4400 Bellaire Blvd., is a five-acre park with a natural playground built with reclaimed tree stumps and a ten-foot slide, a Great Lawn for picnics, trails and gardens. The park also has a sculpture, Move One Place On, with hidden Alice in Wonderland elements for children to hunt for.
Betsy's, the cafe inside Evelyn's Park at 4400 Bellaire Blvd., is the easy way to combine a meal with the playground. Its website describes homemade breakfast tacos, smoothies and coffee in the morning and shared plates, sandwiches, burgers and salad bowls through the evening. Betsy's posts hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Something cold afterward

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt, at 5122 Bissonnet St., is a frozen yogurt shop on the same street, and it lists hours from noon to 10 p.m. every day. Baskin-Robbins, at 5408 Bellaire Blvd., is an ice cream shop that posts hours from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. Marble Slab Creamery and Menchie's Frozen Yogurt are both on Bissonnet Street, close together by street number, so one stop can cover both.
Worth a drive
Holey Moley Houston, at 3839 Weslayan St., is a mini golf venue with 27 themed holes, arcade games, darts and karaoke rooms, and a bar called Caddyshack that serves wings, burgers and fried chicken sandwiches. The venue lists hours from noon to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, until midnight on Friday, and from 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Choosing by child
For a toddler who needs to move, pick Evelyn's Park and Betsy's. For a picky eater, pick MOD Pizza or Luigi's Pizzeria, where pizza is the premise and the argument is short. For a birthday, ask Lankford's about its private party space. For a table where the adults want a real menu as well, pick The '401 or Auntie Pasto's, which both list kids menus.
Before you go
